One of our skilled dentists will perform an initial consultation to determine if dental veneers are the right course of treatment and recommend which type of veneer is best for you. In some cases, veneers can be placed in just one appointment, but some cases require at least two. At the first appointment, the dentist will perform any necessary preparation and then take impressions of your teeth to craft your custom porcelain veneers.
Our Thomasville, NC, practice offers digital impressions, eliminating the need for messy putty and allowing you to see what your smile will look like ahead of time. Our state-of-the-art technology also includes CEREC, or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, allowing our practice to craft your custom dental veneers in-house instead of sending them to an off-site lab, saving time.
Both traditional veneers and minimal-prep veneers require the dentist to remove a small amount of enamel from the natural teeth. This allows for the veneers to be properly fitted and bonded to the tooth. With traditional dental veneers, the dentist removes about 0.5 to 0.7 millimeters of enamel from the surface of your tooth. Minimal-prep dental veneers require even less enamel to be removed. This amount will vary based on what is required to prevent the veneers from protruding and looking fake next to your natural teeth.
